Interesting choices

All red, two Bordeaux style, and all Californian.

I can't limit myself to just a few faves, I drink too many, mostly reds but I'd want Champagne in there, and I drink a lot of Italian Montepulciano (red), and a lot of Bordeaux reds.

But when asked what my fave ine is my usual reply is 'the next one', and that reminds me that I need toput a savvy in the fridge as I'm having grilled fish tonight...

OK done it

Lawson's Dry Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2014 (Marlborough, New Zealand)

Gamay is a Rosé, but yes I am a Californian and a huge fan of California wines. Today I had a 50% Merlot / 50% Cabernet Moldovian wine, and I must say that it tasted nothing like Cabernet and nothing like Merlot...still trying to figure out whether I like that or not.

Cabernet Moldovian? Don't know of tha might it possibly be Cabernet Moravia?

Cabernet Moravia is a recent cross of Cabernet Franc & Zweigelt. Not tasted it, but it's said to have the blackberry tastes of Cabernet.

Moldovian, meaning from Moldova - a country close to Romania. Some believe that Moldovia still produces the world's best red wines.

Oh, I see. Obviousl! I was misled by the two references to California immediately before and Modavia appearing straight after Cabernet which made it look like the variety, expecially when you said the wine tasted nothing like cab, and Iknow there are some odd cab crosses in the US.

By coincidence I just got a flyer from the Wine Society advertising two new Moldovan wines

Cabernet Sauvignon, Château Vartely 2013
Feteascặ Regalặ, Château Vartely 2014

not encountered the second grape, but they say 'this comes from the local feteascặ regalặ grape, which produces a fragrant white with a gentle silky palate. Delightfully easy drinking.' so I'll give it a try.

3 of my favorites would be:

D'Art 2012 Zinfandel
Berghold 2013 Crankcase
St. Amant Vintage Port

All are from Lodi, Califoria!

I'm a great fan of good Zinfandels and my local Italian restaurant has introduced me to the Zinfandel siblings, the Primitivos.

In the whites I'm still in love with Sauvignon Blanc - but not the cheap ones where the grassy notes strongly suggest that the cat got there first.
