When my kids were little, one night during bed time stories, we got on the subject of getting protection from nightmares. So I walked them through a visualization where they met their "protector." My son met the Transformer, Jetfire. My daughter met a unicorn. They were both very pleased with their experience, and even now as teens, they can remember that loving protective energy.
