I guess to me, forcing the negative thoughts out is important.
But more importantly, I want to 'find' the root cause. The real emotion behind the negativity.

I don't want to mask off the negative thoughts by diverting my attention or with some positive affirmations. Because it ALWAYS come back for me another time. I want to know why it happens, why I feel that way. Then I decide whether I want to change or decide whether I want to let it go. Of course, it's painful to face it. However through the process, I understand myself better.

I think any strong emotion will *stimulate* your creativity. Maybe just not in the fashion you're looking for.

Yes, we may neutralize bad with good.

Probably. I know it works for many people (a lot of artist have created their best work when feeling bad) but I haven't tried this when feeling bad so I do not know if it would work for me.
