I have some thoughts on the Heirophant. He is the character in the journey of the Fool that represents a higher spiritual learning. He can be seen as a priest or an adviser or a mentor, but it is always on a spiritual level. I wonder if the Fool consciously chooses his belief system or if it is something that he holds onto because it was the belief system of his parents or his guardians.

Do we tend to choose the belief systems or religions we grew up with because they are a part of our early education or is it because it is something we believe to be true in our hearts and souls?

Is there only one true system or belief or are there many?

As a young adult, I really held on to the belief system of my childhood, and family, because I felt guilty thinking about anything else. Once I finally fully embraced my new ideals, it felt so weird sharing that with my family. I even hid it from them for years LOL!!! Now it's no big deal, but in my early days, it was tough. They are a pretty conservative lot.
