Hello Everyone,

Do you have flower and plant shows annually in your hometown?

Growing up, for me this was a highlight of our farming community - my Mom was a great gardener and won cups year after year for her roses, dahlias, carnations and orchids and besides.

The rules for exhibiting can be strict and the standards high, but I think it may be worth the effort and a badge of achievement just to be able to enter, let alone win any kind of commendation or prize.

If there were to be a competitive forum for you to play around in would you enter?

Tell us your story please.

Cheers now

Lestie,

In our house, my father used to plant trees and my mother used get them trimmed. And this was a major cause of fight between the two of them, because often the trees would be trimmed more than what was actually needed!

Hi Anu,

Having two gardeners in the same garden is like have two cooks in the kitchen - a recipe for Upset on Toast!

I see that the San Francisco Garden and Flower Show is coming up 18-22 March. I've been scrolling through what is on offer on their web site and there are 5 acres of treasures that abound with speakers and plants galore.

You would have to be a Duracell bunny to get through all that so you would have to choose carefully where to go and what to see and absorb rather than run around like a headless chicken. I know it doesn't work ... I've been there and done that with similar shows and I came away with burnt fingers and a frazzled mind.

Lucky fish you if you live in San Francisco and you get to go - let us know what you saw!

Cheers
