It isn't always easy for couples to recharge their marriage batteries when their lives are so busy and energy wanes. Getting out for a date night can even be more work than relaxation when there are sitters to pay for, schedules to juggle, and worries to try to put out of one's mind.
Reminds me of that Tina Fey and Steve Carrell movie called, "Date Night." If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it for a few laughs. Marrieds with kids will recognize themselves in it.
A single night doesn't always recharge the relationship. And, I've found that weekends away, while wonderful, aren't as helpful as sneaking in all of those small, sweet moments of connecting with your spouse. Those recharge my marriage batteries.
Just a quiet snuggle together on the sofa. A neck massage after a long day at work. An encouraging smile. Understanding, acceptance, support. And lots and lots of laughter.
Believe me, you can't fix a contentious relationship over a single candlelit dinner no matter how much wine flows.
