Hi there everyone,

I have to say that choosing a favourite rose is like choosing a favourite chocolate - they are all favourites so you just have to choose the favourite favourite!

Do you have a favourite Rose? What colour? What Style?

We have a lovely rose garden here and most are in bloom even after the light pruning done early January.

My favourite? I love Double Delight (deep pink and white); Just Joey (warm apricot) Satchmo (electric red) Lime Light (neon greeny yellow) Rosy Cheeks (sweet pink climber) ... and there are more so I may as well stop now.

I try to balance my rose containers with colours, so if I pot on a red one I generally replace it with another similar coloured one.

Still - tell us about your Rose Containers, how are they doing?

Cheers

Hello there,

Does anyone grow roses in containers?

Do you also grow them in the ground in a garden or know someone who does?

Even though this post asked for the name of your favourite rose, how about telling us about your rose growing adventures.

Here in Johannesburg we are beginning to prune, though our winter has been a warm one - some trees are a bit confused with the temperatures and still haven't lost their leaves for autumn let alone being bare for winter! I am sure I will make you shake your heads when I tell you we are experiencing temps of 22C - crazy for mid-winter here, I know!

Anyway, I have pruned some containers early (just to see) and will do the rest at the end of the month as usual to see what happens in October when it's normally a riot of colour and scent and pleasure.

What's up in your rosy world?

Cheers
