Here is the
Southern Ring Nebula, a planetary nebula in the constellation Antlia. (Antlia is one of the constellations invented by
Nicolas Louis de Lacaille in the 18th century.) There's a bright star in the center of the picture, but it's the
dim star that formed the nebula. The bright one is just a star in our line of sight.
