Elvis Presley died this day, August 16, 1977 and was pronounced dead at 3:30 PM at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
I as watching a re-run of the crime drama Adam-12 when the words had come across the screen telling us that Elvis had died. Thousands of people swarmed to Graceland and held a candlelight vigil. A s matter of fact, thousands of people have swarmed to Graceland every August 16th since 1997 to hold a candlelight vigil in remembrance of Elvis.
In 2000, Elvis was voted as the best entertainer of the Millennium by TV Guide. Elvis was nominated for 14 Grammy Awards and won three of them. Funny thing for the King of Rock and Roll to win 3 Grammys, all in the Gospel category.
My favorite movie by Elvis was King Creole and one of my favorite songs is Why Me, Lord.
