People wonder how predators are able to take advantage of seniors that are bright, active, thriving and independent. After all, most seniors that are exploited have dementia, right?

No I don't think they have dementia. I believe predators are able to prey on the elderly because they are lonely.

The strangers are cowards and it's easier for them to push around an elderly person than someone younger and stronger

You're so right, Rosie52. Even the sharpest senior can be taken advantage of, just because they are human beings with human needs. So in cases like that, it's so important to be aware of how predators operate, and be aware of those patterns. Thanks for your feedback.

Most predators target the most vulnerable, easiest prey. They do not want a fight - they don't want to risk harm to themselves. So elders that have a particular vulnerability are attractive to them. That vulnerability might be dementia or something similar, but like Rosie52 said - they might just be lonely and wanting a connection. Male elders often get taken advantage of by younger women, even when there is no sexual relationship. Female elders often get taken by young women with a child, especially a baby. Good point, Rosie66!
