Sorry for the late post - my son came home from China yesterday and everything got a bit hectic.

I just posted an article exploring the purpose of relationships. Would love to hear your thoughts on the subject.

What Purpose Do Relationships Serve

Relationships, whether being romantic, friendly, or family, can add beauty and dimension to our existence. Certainly any relationship does not fulfill all of our needs, so it is important to have our own individual interests and private time. That is the relationship we have with our selves.

Any relationship when treated with compassion, understanding, acceptance, and lack of judgement can be very successful. Being human means we will make mistakes. It is in how we handle the discrepancy that will determine the affect on the relationship.

Thanks for this. Yes and knowing that whatever each person brings we called to ourselves for a reason. It is all to easy to blame another for our problems and forget the beauty that they also bring to our life

I believe our attraction to others is most often because they possess a characteristic that we like in ourselves or that we admire and desire to understand and/or emulate.

Relationships are meant to help us appreciate who we are. They are important in helping us to learn important lessons. Within our relationships we are meant to learn about ourselves in order to grow and move closer to fulfilling our purpose in life.

So, when our loved ones pique or aggravate us, it is an opportunity to learn about a part of us that we do not appreciate. It is an opportunity to correct or accept more of us. A loving, and supportive relationship can lead us to our best selves and help smooth our path of purpose.
