Hold your hand up if you are old enough to remember the very first Planet of the Apes movie? Many movie-goers may not remember that before there was a fancy CGI (computer-generated imagery) version, Planet of the Apes was already a strong franchise and action packed movie.

The Planet of the Apes has been a lucrative franchise from the moment the first movie hit the drive-in theaters in 1968. The original movie introduced movie-goers to our beloved characters Cornelius and Zira. If you haven't seen it, here is a flashback to the original.

I can remember watching Planet of the Apes many times. I was shocked when Charlton Heston discovered that he was still on Earth. I still think this one is the best of the series. Animation is fine, but there is just something about a good storyline that speaks to me.

I remember in one of the movies (not sure which one) that the humans and apes discover the ruins of a zoo with pictures of the apes behind bars.

And I loved Roddy McDowell's ape.

Sandra, The "originals" were definitely my favorite as well. I had a much stronger connection with the original Caesar, Cornelius and Zira!

I think perhaps, Battle for the Planet of the Apes?

Yes, Roddy McDowell was awesome, funny and endearing!
