Urbain Le Verrier was mistaken about a planet closer to the Sun than Mercury, even though it was a reasonable hypothesis. He died convinced that he had discovered
two planets. Although that was wrong, his work did lead to the discovery of the planet Neptune. He has been described - supposedly by Francois Arago - as "the man who discovered a planet with the point of his pen."
Le Verrier is buried in Montparnasse Cemetary in Paris.
