Bob made me a delicious fried egg and cheese sandwich on low carb bread. Just what I need today - it's been a long day. Our cat, Juliet, developed a urinary tract infection which is quite painful. So I guzzled my EAS shake while we called around finding an open vet, then I was out for hours handling that, then home and forcing pills on her and such. So after all of that I admit I had some Cream of Wheat and curled up in bed with her for a long nap. I'm just getting around to lunch now.
Do you tend to comfort-food-eat under stress like that?

I certainly do. It's a terrible habit and a hard one to break!

Hi there,
I heard a lady say the other day, perhaps by way of explaining why she was quite a lot overweight, "I am a comfort eater." Well the way she said it seemed that it was a given to be a comfort eater and that she had earned a badge or something.
I can see why when we are temporarily under extra pressure or stressed we want to eat such comfort foods as chocolate or beef stew or cakes (for the sugar lift) but when it becomes a habit as it were, then the red lights should flash for sure.
If a person is struggling with weight in these circumstances, then comfort eating seems to be an unconscious attempt at solving 'the problem' but unfortunately acts to exacerbate a weight and/or health problem instead.
One trick might be to ask yourself why you are eating out of tune? Is it a plate of resentment, of anger, of fear, of hurt that you are eating? or is it a real and nourishing meal that you have cooked or prepared or even bought?
A lot comes down to self esteem as well. Oh dear - life is full of testing circumstances!
Cheers

Wow, James my son came over for the weekend so it was pizza, Chinese food, popcorn, you name it. I feel like a blimp. I need to develop a better plan for this . Have you had a poor-eating session recently?

Having my breakfast EAS protein shake with various vitamins. I weakened yesterday and had some chocolate Pinwheels Bob had bought. He really shouldn't do that. There's no reason for Pinwheels to be in the house - I just eat them and gain weight. And it's not even like they're that good. The house needs to be free of them! Do you find that if you make poor decisions in the store, it becomes hopeless to resist the stuff once you're home?

Last night Bob's band had a gig and I ate an entire serving of fried dough. And went back over 135lb LOL. Time to eat better again.

Bob was sweet and made me a pair of fried eggs for dinner. I love the crispy edges. Budget-minded, too.

Had my EAS protein shake, then leftover moo-shu for lunch. Blech. Should have had my salad. Just not feeling well now. Lesson learned! What are you guys having today?
