I use Lulu for printing a large-format full-color magazine, for spiral-bound cookbooks, and for ebooks (getting them into Apple and Nook).

Have you guys tried Lulu?

Thanks for that info Lisa.

I will check out Lulu as I want to finally take the trip down the ebook writing road this year....or maybe something else. Lots going on in my head!

Allyson, I see you got your avatar working!

Everyone - I use Lulu for all my ebooks and to reach the companies Lisa mentioned above. Lulu has just started including Kobo as an outlet.

Allyson, as Lisa has mentioned to us in the past - with ebooks, you do the work once and get an ongoing stream of income. Be sure to market heavily in all the social media and on your personal sites.

My instructional ebooks sell best.

I have never tried it and don't know much about it. I was initially scared off by some hideously high pricing on fiction and nonfiction that I'd seen back in 2010 and last year -- prices like $24 for a full-sized trade paperback at 300 or so pages. And I'd assumed that the authors had to price that way to cover their costs. But maybe they just didn't know how to set an enticing price. smile It's good to get a more positive impression from your experiences.

You're very welcome, Allyson! Sometimes it takes me awhile to react on Facebook because I find the whole FB arrangement so confusing that it takes a concentrated effort on my part to make myself go in there and start looking at things, so thanks for your patience! There might be a slight lag sometimes on my response on FB, but I always try to get in there eventually and follow up. smile

I sell short novellas for about $3 a book - if someone has outrageous pricing, it's because they choose to. Most of my full length novels sell for $5 or so.

The two sites to compare are Lulu and CreateSpace. Both have their good and not-so-good parts.

For me, the print side of Lulu is about spiral bound and large-format full-color works like Mused. I use CreateSpace for all "regular" novels.
