Did you know that Comfrey was known in medieval times as Knitbone–indicating its healing properties? It has been shown to heal fractures with amazing progress.

You can add it to Olive Oil to make a salve to relieve pain, reduce bruises, stop insect bites and help with inflammation of Arthritis!

Hi Bettina!

I just read your article on Herbal Comfort regarding Comfrey. I found it fascinating and excited that it may help arthritis, which I have a lot of.

My questions to you are - Do you know where you can buy this herb? Is it available in dried form? I never see this in any grocery store - and do you know what conditions it needs to grow if I wanted to do that.

Again, great informative article. Thanks - I use tons of herbs in my recipes and I love your articles.

Hi Allyson,

I know you can buy seeds, now that being said, I am not sure if a greenhouse would carry them or you might have to buy online. I did find a holistic site that sells the comfrey leaves $30 a pound. So you might want to check out some of those sites as well as a healthfood store.

Thank you for your kind words, let me do a bit more research and I will keep you posted if I find some direct sources.

Great article, Bettina. I have arthritis in my feet, and I take gloucosamine sulfate to keep the pain in check. I think I will look into comfrey as well. Thank you!
