I was thinking, once again, that I have way too many clothes. I keep purging them, but still i have more than I wear. My recent travels in North Carolina, where I had to start with a fresh new wardrobe, showed me that. Now that I am in AZ for a bit, I thought I would clean out the stuff I haven't worn much (or at all - eeks).

I even have some nicer things that I never ever wear. I took the leap and put those in the bin too.

I just put together a bin of stuff to take to the food pantry clothing "store". They offer free clothes to people in need, and pretty much everything gets used.

That way I can feel like everything will get rehomed somewhere. The few things I thought were unusable I simply put in my rag pile - why oh why I kept those things in my closets is beyond me. smile

So, your turn: did you donate or recycle anything today?

I brought some nice clothes and misc house things to Goodwill yesterday.

Today I am gathering up blankets that are not really people-usable (torn, stained) and making a stack for the animal shelter.

Today I went through a ton of old mail, and cleaned out a bunch of paper files that no longer have relevance. Bringing my paper recycling bin to the car!

(it's near the supermarket and I can drop those off next time to do errands).

Did you recycle today?

I traded my jeep for someone's chevy truck yesterday, and the truck was full of garbage and recyclables.

So I went and recycled everything I could, before bringing the truck home.

I am a recycling fiend today. My overseas student neighbor will be flying home for summer and he is throwing away literally tons of items that are very expensive, in great shape, and can be donated to thrift stores. I keep pulling things out of the trash bins in our fourplex and placing them in my personal donation basket by my door.

I want to go up to these guys and say, "look - just make boxes of this stuff and i will donate them for you"...but I don't like talking to people. I need to do it, but thinking about it makes me anxious.

So I keep looking in the curbside bins. I know it is the right thing to do, but I wonder what they must be thinking, looking out the window at me.

Okay - I pulled together a big bin of stuff to take to Goodwill, and a lot of nice things to keep, including a brass lamp!

Jilly, I know what you mean about not wanting to talk to people - I'm like that myself sometimes. In your place, I think I'd stick a note on the bins saying Hey, I'm a recycling fiend (!), so please put your stuff in these boxes and I'll donate it for you.

You can still look in the bins too, but at least they'd know what you were up to if they spotted you!

Grace, it turns out that i worked up the courage to ask them, and they told me they'd already put out everything they were tossing. So it's a good thing that I did my own thing, if they couldn't be bothered themselves.

Yesterday, I dropped off a nice big box of stuff to goodwill. Clothes and housewares. Today, I started a fresh new box of donation items.

A neighbor tossed one of his textbooks in the trash. I took it out and plan to sell it to the local buy-back program. So I saved it from the dump, and will hopefully make a dollar or two. smile
