Calling all Knitters -

Would you knit for someone else? I mean as a paying hobby? I can knit very little beyond a plain stich wobbly looking 'scarf' so I can honestly say that this is just not a skill I have!

Still, I love home knitted clothes and often I come across a pattern in a book or magazine and wish so I could find someone to knit it for me - and of course I would pay for this service.

I have not really been successful in finding anyone here in Johannesburg, except a couple of people who have old fashioned knitting machines, and that is not what I want.

I just wondered if any of you would consider this as a second source of revenue for instance? And if not, why not? Thanks for any input,

Cheers

I think people don't for others is that it takes a long time and you can't charge enough. One of the things a very talented knitter in my area did was to barter. She knitted something for a friend who refinished a dining room table for her. Both people were very happy!

From what I have seen, it really is like Marge says. It can take a long enough time to knit something, that even as a side income the amount earned per hour is very low compared to other possible income streams.
Now the bartering idea is something I really hadn't considered before. That could be a real win-win depending on the situation.
