My first husband was in the army, and he got shaving bumps so bad that he actually got what's called a "shaving profile". This meant he didn't have to shave every day. I know a lot of African-American men were eligible for this profile, because their faces would just get so torn up from shaving every day.

I shave my face. I hate hair (except eyelashes + hair on my head + eyebrow line) even when it is almost invisible. I never had any shaving bumps on my face but years ago when I was shaving instead of waxing I had (that is why i started to get waxed by my aesthetician - that was driving me crazy - i kept on itching everywhere).
