New York has long been one of the most exiting places to shoot movies. The city is so interesting the makers of the romantic comedy Puccini For Beginners said the city was “like another character.”

Do you have a favorite New York City movie?

About a year or so ago I watched a little charmer of a film called Jack Goes Boating. Here’s the plot summary from IMBD:

Jack Goes Boating(2010)
Comedy|Drama|Romance - 29 December 2010

A limo driver's blind date sparks a tale of love, betrayal, friendship, and grace centered around two working-class New York City couples.

Director:
Philip Seymour Hoffman

Writer:
Robert Glaudini (screenplay)

Stars:
Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Ryan, John Ortiz

A New Life( 1988)

104 min - Comedy - 11 August 1988

I gave this New York based film 6 out of 10 stars on IMBD, I only ever liked Alan Alda in one movie and that is Same Time Next Year.

I was, however, inspired by Ann-Margret, who at mid-life goes back to school to train for a new career after her divorce from Alan Alda.

The story is basically about their divorce and as the title implies, the aftermath.

Director:
Alan Alda

Writer:
Alan Alda

Stars:
Alan Alda, Ann-Margret, Hal Linden

The Baxter(2005)
91 min - Comedy|Romance - 24 April 2005(USA)

I rated this wonderful little New York based film 8 out of 10 stars. There is one scene in particular where the hero and heroine have a heart to heart talk in the bathroom of a poetry joint. The walls are covered in graffiti and red candles are lit in the background. The scene is very artsy and very, very New York. Loved it!

From IMBD:

In the style of a Howard Hawks comedy, Baxter follows the twists and turns of a young man's life during the two weeks before his wedding.

Director:
Michael Showalter
Writer:
Michael Showalter
Stars:
Michael Showalter, Elizabeth Banks, Peter Dinklage

Friends with Benefits(2011)
109 min - Comedy|Romance - 22 July 2011(USA)

I saw Friends with Benefits within the last year or so, but can hardly remember a thing about it. I do recall enjoying it at the time tho, so that is a good thing and I rated it 7 out of 10 stars on IMBD. Oh I believe I do remember a scene where the characters go to the roof of a building in Manhattan. I just looked it up, the roof scene is on Park Avenue.

From IMBD:

While trying to avoid the clichés of Hollywood romantic comedies, Dylan and Jamie soon discover however that adding the act of sex to their friendship does lead to complications.

Director:
Will Gluck
Writers:
Keith Merryman (screenplay), David A. Newman (screenplay), 4 more credits »
Stars:
Mila Kunis, Justin Timberlake, Patricia Clarkson

The most unforgetable movie set in NYC, in my opinion is
Fatal Attraction

Michael Douglas made a naughty mistake and Glenn Close boiled his bunny.
