What makes you learn to knit and keep on knitting? Why are you knitting after so many years? These are the reasons why I knit.

Just catching up on my online reading. I love the reasons you knit. One other reason I knit is the constant learning involved also.

I would love to knit but I find that I can't pick up my dropped stitches as easily as when I crochet. I love the texture of knitting so much more than crochet but crochet is easier for me. I crochet quite a lot.

I am also amazed about how there is always something more I could learn about knitting. I have really wanted to explore knitting with wire to make jewelry. There are still a tone of stitch patterns an techniques I haven't tried, as well.

Lori, How do you pick up your dropped stitches? I pick them up with a crochet hook.
I find that crochet doesn't require me to think ahead the way knitting does. Crochet seems more free-form, where as knitting is so structural I have to plan it out.

I guess just having to work with one hook is easier to manipulate with my hands than two needles. Maybe I'll try it again. I have needles. I would love to knit a simple prayer shawl.

That sounds really lovely, Lori. Have you begun your prayer shawl? Do you want to knit a prayer shawl as part of a meditation or prayer practice?

I love knitting. It took a long time for me to learn. I picked up crocheting when I was a teenager and when I decided I wanted to learn to knit it was really hard to use two needles.

I enjoy crochet for how fast it moves along and it is my favorite for afghans.

I enjoy knitting for the texture. I use it for most clothing and accessories.

I knit because I would be lost without having a way to express my creativity and my love for those that get the items I knit.

Carla, I love how you stated that it is a way to express your creativity and to express your love for others. So true!
