As I stepped out of my car, both of feet slipped out from under me. What I had thought was a puddle turned out to be black ice. Unable to break my fall, I landed hard on my already injured left hip and on my left wrist.
Jori, I am so sorry that you fell. I hope that you have a swift recovery.
I try to stay off of the ice. If I have to go on it, I move slowly. AND, if there is ice, I assume that wherever I might step is icy, even if it looks salted or dry.
Jori, I read your article and am so sorry you slipped on the black ice. I wear ice cleats on my shoes on the snow and ice now, because I fell face forward on snow and ice over concrete 2 years ago, and it has taken me 2 years to mostly recover.
I'm sorry to hear about your fall, and glad that you are finally almost recovered. Ice cleats would be helpful - I'll have to look into getting a pair.
