Hello everyone,

This week's article defines what a game master is. More to the point, it outlines why GMs have more control over the game than each individual within the group. It's part of what keeps the game running.

GMs – have you run games where your authority as GM was constantly undermined? Did you stick with it or throw in the towel? How did your experience pan out?

Players – were you ever offset by a power-hungry GM? Was it enough to turn you from them or were you able to alert them? What do you do when another player is being standoffish with a call you agree with?

GM muses – has your GM companion ever been sourly disillusioned by defiant players? Have you ever seen them go “mad with power?” How does the balance of power look from the outside; are GMs having all the fun or the players?
