"Icy Comet" was a Runner-up in the Earth and Space category. This picture was also taken by Fredrik Broms.

The page for Earth and Space winners includes a video at the bottom. It has an interview with Fredrik. He says that one of his delights in watching the aurora and looking at the sky is sharing its beauty with others.

Alan Friedman is known for his amazing photos of the Sun. They show astounding detail that's almost unbelievable for a ground-based amateur. He was the Runner-up in the Our Solar System category for his brilliant photo of a magnetically-active region on the Sun.

Look here to see Friedman's Magnetic Maelstrom

There is a short video on this page showing Alan Friedman at work. He has in common with Fredrik Broms - including a delight with the wonders of the sky and the wish to share them with others.
