Yesterday I went to the nearest Restore, the habitat for humanity resale shop. I needed a desk to use while I am in Orlando, and got a nice white painted wooden one with four drawers for $12, and a chair for $5.

I spent a lot of time looking on craigslist, and this ended up being the best solution for a desk. I am thinking specifically that I will clean it up and give it a new paint job, and then resell it for more than I paid for it when I leave here in a month or so. If I can turn it around and sell it for $50, that would be a fun activity - plus I got to use a desk while I was here.

They also had a sale - $2 for as many books as you could get in a plastic shopping bag. I managed to squeeze a lot of books in. I love bag sales!

I took my mother in law out to the ReStore for the book bag sale, and we found they also had a $3 a bag sale with christmas stuff that had been donated to them. So she filled two bags with fun things to play with for this year's christmas.

I went to a thrift store today and bought nothing! I am very proud of myself. How often does that happen?

Got an amazing bargain at the Community Resource Center thrift store yesterday - a complete set of Sherlock Holmes stories in nine hard cover books, brand new condition, for 50cents each.

I was so pleased I felt I should spend some more, so got a china cat ornament for $3 and a stuffed rabbit for the dog for 50cents.

Grace, that Sherlock series is a treasure! What a find! Where did you end up putting them?

I'm now in a small town outside of Asheville, NC, and yesterday I found a tiny little vintage shop. There was a 75% off table in there, and I grabbed a milk glass goblet with the grape vine design. That, and the hobnail, are the milk glass designs I collect. It was a dollar on the table, so I ended up paying all of 25 cents for it. Using it right now for my lime seltzer. smile

To my shame, those Sherlock Holmes books are back in the paper bag they came home in, and our book cases are still in the garage, where they've been since we moved to this house 17 months ago.

I keep meaning to be more organized - one fine day perhaps.

I have been known to go from move to move without unpacking things. It happens.

Get your bookcase and line up your fine new Holmes set.
