Creating a fantastic sandwich is a matter of having the building blocks of the sandwich available. You don't need to have all of the ingredients on this list, but keep the ones that you regularly use handy. A tasty sandwich is just minutes away from the plate! Basic List of Sandwich Ingredients

Rotisserie chicken is where it is at! Slice chicken for sandwiches. Then, take the little bits and make chicken salad for wraps. After that, boil the bones for soup stock and make vegetable soup to go with your sandwiches.

I had a wonderful bread last night. Heat and serve baguettes would make a lovely foundation for a sandwich.

What do you feel is essential to keep in your pantry for sandwiches?

I like keeping a jar of pickled banana pepper rings on hand. They are not very spicy yet they give a sandwich a little zip.

I love jalapenos from Aldi. Spicy, but not too hot...just right!

I just made some fried quinoa, like fried rice, but it is made with quinoa! I fried onions, celery, and an egg, then folded in some cooked quinoa with a little seaweed, pickled ginger and soy sauce. I could just wrap this up with some plum sauce and alfalfa sprouts and go to town with it!

Wouldn't seafood be great in a wrap with the fried quinoa?

Good deal! Let me know what you think should be added to the list.

We keep a variety of jellies and fruit spreads. Typically, we have grape, blackberry, mixed fruit, strawberry, and cherry.

We also have several kinds of mustard. Grey Poupon makes Dijon and a Creamy Dijon that can substitute for mayo. The Creamy Dijon has fewer fat calories than mayo. I also must have French's Yellow Mustard. None of the other yellow mustards taste the same.

I keep items to make marinades on hand. These include Italian dressing, Sriracha hot sauce, teriyaki sauce, and citrus fruit.
