Chinua Achebe was a true legend; a human literary phenomenon. His death was greatly felt all over the world, as the realization hit home that we had indeed lost a true hero. Read on to know about this great man.

Achebe was a fantastic writer and I agree, we lost an amazing writer and humanitarian when he passed. I don't know a lot about Achebe's children's books, but I did study Things Fall Apart in school and the story was horrific in the sense that things like that actually happened.

I think of myself as well read but had not read Things Fall Apart until a couple of years ago. It really gave me a fresh perspective on my own life, because when I say things fell apart today, I usually mean I couldn't find my keys and I spilled my coffee in the car and I made my lunch and forgot to bring it. I think the best part of the book for me was the locusts. Again just a different way of looking at things. I thought the locusts coming would be a bad thing in a book full of one bad thing after another. It just struck me as sublimely interesting that a locust invasion could turn out the way it did in this book. Thank you for sharing this - I have never met anyone else who read these books.

Thank you for your posts! Achebe was indeed a legend that'll never be forgotten. Things Fall Apart was and is still one of my best reads.
