We all have flaws, so isn't it wonderful when a less than perfect character gets the absolutely perfect romance...

If you like rooting for the underdog, here are a few films featuring quirky/nerdy/strange heroes.

The Baxter
2005 Film
6.5/10-IMDb

The Baxter is a 2005 film written by, directed by and starring American comedian Michael Showalter. A “Baxter”, as defined by the film, is the nice, dull guy in a romantic comedy who is dumped at the end of the story for the protagonist.--Wikipedia

How to Fall in Love
(2012)

Still suffering from the ugly-duckling syndrome that branded his youth, Harold White (Eric Mabius) hires Annie Hayes (Brooke D’Orsay), the pretty and popular girl he knew in high school, to be his dating coach and help him shed his wallflower approach to romance. Annie even enlists her friend Kim (Kathy Najimy), a waitress at a local diner, to be Harold’s practice date. Annie draws Harold out of his shell and teaches him to win over a new love interest with the help of their shared passion for classic love songs. But when sparks unexpectedly fly between “student” and “teacher,” both Harold and Annie must learn how to make up for past mistakes if they’re going to hold onto true love.--Hallmark Channel

Oh and how could I have forgotten, the underdog to beat all underdogs...Leslie Howard playing a club footed medical student in Of Human Bondage, my absolute favorite movie of all time. Howard and Bette Davis have absolute perfect chemistry in this 1930s film.

I love this film so much I've seen all three versions AND I read the book!
