78.5kg (which converts to 173 lb)

last time posted her on 21 Aug was 84kg (which converts to 185 lb)

not too bad considering since then I've been on wine trip to Alsace for a week, 3+ weeks on holiday in USA, AWS conference, two banquets ...

rate of loss is slowing but still going down

Lisa - how do you find your fat/muscle/water weights?

Peter -

In the US, pretty much every "general purpose" store we've been in has these scales in with their other weight scales. They look just like regular bathroom scales. We've had a whole series of them over the years. You step on them with bare feet and they send a mild electrical current up one leg and down the other (i.e. it naturally completes the circuit). If you then tell it your height, the system knows your weight, and can calculate your body composition based on the speed of that signal.

Do they not have those in the UK?

I hadn't looked, I was unaware of such a thing.

But I see that similar scales are available in UK, including the one you write about which is on Amazon.co.uk at a ferocious price.

But I am dubious of how a mild electric current can differentiate between bone, muscle and water bodily content.

There is a very interesting and detailed review on amazon.com THIS PRODUCT IS A SHAM!By R. Repine on July 9, 2012 that raises concerns about the methodilogy and accuracy fo the product.

OK - passed a mile stone today

77.3 KG - that makes 30 KG since I started in Feb at 107.4
took 9 weeks to lose first 10 kg
took 12 weeks to lose second 10 kg
took 19 weeks to lose third 10 kg (but that included 4 weeks living in hotels and eating out 3 times a day, including two formal banquets, 2.5 weeks visiting Missouri wineries and .5 week at the American Wine Society conference smile

FYI 10kg = 22.05 pounds. 30kg = 66.14 pounds

Peter -

That's great!

Some of the scales are cheap imitators - but many of them work quite well. Bob and I have done numerous tests with them, comparing them against other industry standard measurements including a variety of fat-testing devices, and they come out fairly accurate.
