Thanks Connie for an excellent article. Just as shyness for many just does not go away, as you explained the same is true for ADD. Those that have the fortitude and creativity to adapt positive coping skills have the best chance for success (however one self-defines it) later on in life.

Thanks for your comment edwardd1. You have it exactly right. ADD can be a challenge; I never try to make light of the difficulties that it can present. (I've been living with those problems for years.) However, the positives of ADD can help you develop skills that serve a person well.

I appreciate it when we get new posters in the forum. The give and take of ideas is what makes a forum really work.

Both the negative and positive aspects of ADD can last into adulthood. Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking are both hallmarks of ADD.

Many people with ADD don't grow out of it. I am one of them. However, we find ways to accommodate our different style of doing things.

Today, we have a paperwork day at school. I have my plan and will work it. I have to beware of distractions and shut them down before they get me started going in different directions.
