To all or none,
Compassion
Sharing the suffering of another without hurting oneself.
Lately ,I hang around with a friend ,in deep doo doo. Not very rich myself ,I helped him financially.by doing so,now ,I am the one,in financial doo doo. Overdoing it ,is not better than doing nothing. Loong

To all or none,
I now beleive ,one can overuse Compassion, without knowing it, to buy love.I am presently living such a situation ,i realized, by helping someone and hurting myself ,at the same time.
Equanimity,to see things how they really are

Loong Yes I love this quote, although in my translation it is 'the wise man' and 'the ignorant man' which I like a little better. But the idea is the same - that once we are in alignment with the Tao or Dharma, we do not need to think about being virtuous, it just naturally happens. This is exactly why when I wrote my Essence of Buddhism post a few weeks back I focused on the practice component - meditation and mindfulness. To me they are not simply 2 components of the Eightfold path. On one level that is true. But on a deeper level, to live the Eightfold path, everything flows from this connection with the Dharma. When we have that, we do not need to think about or debate what is right action, what is right speech, etc. It flows naturally from us, from our natural connection to the dharma. And that connection comes from meditation and mindful practice. Then right speech, right livelihood etc. - all the rest - are themselves expressions of meditation and mindfulness.

Friends:
Compassion is the Good Core of Buddhism!
Overcome the angry by friendliness, overcome the wicked by goodness, overcome the miser by generosity, overcome the liar by truth... Dhammapada 223
He who neither punishes, nor makes others punish, He who neither steals, nor makes others steal, who in friendly goodwill shares with all that lives, such gentle one meets no enmity anywhere... Itivuttaka 27
Train yourself in doing only what is really good, since that will last, and brings great happiness! Cultivate generosity, a simple peaceful living, and a fine mentality of infinite friendliness... Itivuttaka 16 Buddha Gautama

Loon, You know? I don't know if you've experienced or seen this? But, have you noticed that people or you know, the ones that feel to be judgmental, angry, begrudging or I don't know just have whatever, just any type of resentment about - could be anything... We're like a Star that collapses upon ourselves within that core being. Inspiration ceases, energy decreases and our illumination? Well, it's kind of murky and you can sense it a mile away. Whereas compassion, real, genuine-love and acceptance, etc., it has an energy all its own! A person can light up a room like a spark washing across that little light within all whom happen to be close, even distant, wherever they happen to be.

Dear Elleise,
You are so right.Few months ago I was sitting Inside a Mc Donald's ,when a man came in ,and sat in front of me. He said that from outside there seemed to be a glow around me! His wife joined us and right there they knew that there was something coming out of me. The man is suffering from a brain trauma. We spoke for at least an hour. What else .Buddhism.
In one of the last posts ,i posted ,I cite TNH regarding Anger ,always ready to jump out of our store consciousness.

To all or none,
Karuna,Compassion , is understanding the ignorance, the suffering of another person, with love, but without sharing the pain these people are living.
