My 12-year old ragdoll cat Squeaky has passed away. I will miss her a great deal. It took me a while to be able to write this article. My heart is broken. If I can help anyone to avoid this heartache I intend on doing so! Learn about the symptoms of chronic renal failure (CRF).

Diana,
I am so terribly sorry. I have a wonderful dog who will be 14 in May and is beginning to show signs of aging. It breaks my heart that he won't be with me for years and years and years.
Animals are beautiful creatures.
Again, I am so sorry.

Thank you for the kindness. So much of our lives are wrapped around these special family members it is hard to accept it when they are gone. She was so much part of my life I still reach out to pet her or see her out the corner of my eye. They enrich our lives tremendously!

I am so sad to hear of this, Diana. Sad for your loss. Pets share a bond with us that only other pet lovers understand. What a special cat Squeaky is! What a blessing she has been to you! Our pet animals are such gifts!

Your article is a wonderful tribute to her. And, I must tell you that it is vital information. Our own cat who came to us as a stray shows signs of this disease. We wondered why he frequently vomits his food up. We've tried all types, dry, canned, different brands.

The problem is that we have no idea how old he is and he will not go into the car or a carrier as he has been "on his own" for who knows how long. Although he loves to come inside to sleep and get lots of love, he is mainly an outdoor cat.

Now, I believe that he, too, must have renal disease because he shows all of the symptoms you mentioned. frown

But he still eats so that is one good sign.

Thank you for sharing. And I'm not sure what your beliefs are, but in my personal experience, I can tell you that my beloved border collie still visits us in spirit on occasion. He bounds playfully about now without all that pain in his hind quarters. May this give you peace and hope for your joyous reunion.

That you love Squeaky so much is the sign that she really did her job well here on earth! What a precious cat!

Diana,

You have my deepest sympathies. Squeaky was a wonderful, loving cat. And you were a wonderful, caring companion to her.

I, too, had a cat who had chronic renal failure so I understand what you have went through. You gave her all the comfort and love she needed to fight to the end. One day you will be reunited.

I have felt cats rubbing their faces against mine and touching my cheek with claws carefully sheathed. These things, to me, are expressions of love. - James Herriot

So sorry for your loss Diana. It is important to share. Animals don't usually have tell tale signs like humans when it comes to illnesses.
