Great article, Yvonnie. I know that there are things that I have made peace with, and others that I allow to haunt me. One of the things that I am most grateful for is how my children helped me understand my mother and to let go of past hurts.

So much of our present day luggage comes from the relationships we have had with our parents in the past. Saying, "OK, I get it and can accept that this is who/where you are. This is how I will deal with it peacefully." is a powerful transition into improving you.

So, while your children are marvelous conduits and Instructors for your healing, you are the brilliant one for comprehending and acting accordingly.

Good for you Connie!!!

Yeah, I have read Yvonnie's article "Making Peace with your Past" and have to share the feelings I have, it really helps me a lot to get rid of things that happened in a not that willing way, right now I am peaceful inside and the past will not haunt me that much any more, I am thankful as well. smile

Meredith-

I am happy that you have found a way to be at peace. It is valuable to our "whole health"; mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health.

Hi Yvonnie,

I just read your article, and Wow it really touched a lot of chords within me.

Thank You.

My Mother grew up in a violent home, and had seen her mother beaten at a tender age.

That trickled down to me.

I'm 51, and very passively accept the hurts.

But, your practical understanding and ability to articulate that into useful tools in your article is very soothing to me.

Thank You,

Burt B. smile
