I never had roasted boar, but I'd be willing to try it.

I'm socially inept and just stand there and act tall and stupid. The boar sounds wonderful, but I'm bringing fried chicken just in case I can't eat a whole bunch

You can bring whatever you like, Burt -- as long as you just join us and be here. Lots o' Hugs! Actually, I would prefer he the fried chicken, too.

If we are goin' to have a gatherin' then I had best start a cookin'. What should I make to go along with our meats? Baked beans, scalloped potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cornbread...... I'd better get the oven fired up.
Phyllis....what desserts can you whip up for us?

The tables on the patio are laden with cold salads and desserts of all kinds sitting on ice. Marinated ribs, chicken, sausages, peppers, onions, and mushrooms (Texas style barbecue) are wrapped tightly in foil and have been roasting on the bbq. about 3 hours over a low fire -- this otta give us a perfect meal.
Granpappy, jug in one hand, is watching the boar turning on the spit over the fire pit, and making some kind of plans with Beetle. Looks like more is stirring up there than the baked beans in the cauldron.

Beetle is hunkering down for the next 24 hours. Predictions are the iced desserts will soon be covered with snow come sunset.

Oh, boy oh boy. Better take the food inside and hunker down till the snow storm passes. Lots of hot coffee, hot chocolate and hot tea, plus story time, to while away the hours. Take care, Beetle.

Yep....we're gonna get some of that storm, too. A mix of rain and snow for the next few days.
Best get that food under cover. I will take a mug of hot chocolate with a big dollop of whipped cream on my way to a nice cozy seat by the fire.....

Last I heard we could get up to a foot of snow. It is coming here soon and Beetle is already in the thick of it.
Thank goodness spring is just around the corner. It has not been a terrible winter, just a long one, and I am badly needing some sun and warmth.
