Saying no to our children can be challenging and when met with constant resistance exhausting. But here are several reasons why it's important that as parents we tell our kids no and stick to it. What do you find helpful for handling the resistance from your children when you tell them no? Why do you feel it's so important for parents to stick to their limits?

It's important to stick to your limits as it may reduce the amount of push back your child might give you next time. In addition, if you don't keep to your decisions, your child may not have respect for your decision/choices because you did not respect your own decision by sticking to it.

This would make setting limits in the future that much more difficult.

It is important to set limits when they are young. I have seen too many people who have young children who are volatile, so they don't set limits. It's painful when the child gets enraged and goes completely out of control. So, the parents smooth it over, let the child do what he wants, and say they'll settle this another day. Unfortunately, that day doesn't come. When the child is a tween or teen, it's just too late. The parents have a massive problem, and worse still, so does the child.
