I am more than a little tired of companies not paying living wages. I have to do my small bit to help, since I understand how hard it is to be poor and desperate. Several years ago, I dropped my shopping at Wal-Mart from 3 or 4 times a month to maybe 6 times a year. Here is my pledge: For the next 6 months, I will not shop at Wal-Mart, eat at McDonalds, or Burger King. I will encourage others to stop fueling these businesses with their dollars. I will send letters to the companies telling them what I am doing.

Will you join me? If not 6 months, will you pledge a month? Don't spend your money where employees are not treated well.

You choose the company that offends you the most.
Abstain from shopping there for a specified period of time.
Send a letter or e-mail to the company telling them what you are doing and why you are doing it.
Encourage others to do something definite, too!

I don't eat fast food very often so that is not a problem for me. As for Walmart, I don't shop much there, but some items I need I only buy there. Because of an extremely tight budget due to a low paying job, I need to go where I can afford to shop. I don't have a choice but to go to Walmart for some of my necessities, including prescriptions.
