Oh how I remember this cake! I married into a GREAT Greek family and my first year celebrating New Year with them one of my wife's aunts made this cake. She cut a slice and handed it to me, but forgetting I wasn't Greek failed to mention the "coin!" Guess who got the "coin?" Took a bite and nearly needed a Heimlich as I choked on it. We all had a good laugh, at my expense, and now whenever I see a Vasilopita I always say to my wife, "Oh look, the cake Aunt Helen tried to tried to kill me with!" :D :D :D
