I'm new to jewelry making and am a little addicted...so much so that this could get pricey! :) Does anyone have any suggestions on merchants who have good quality supplies for reasonable prices (better than Michael's or Hobby Lobby)? I don't want to break the bank! Thanks, Jenny

You should try searching for "jewelry making supplies" and go through the listings. When you find a seller with great prices, contact them via phone of email. If you don't get a reply or get a canned reply, move on to the next one. I prefer to contact suppliers by phone. This generally let's them know you are serious. I even get some great freebies and discounts from time to time.

You can join some jewelry making forums - many of the designers there do bulk buys that you can get in on. You will get some unique items for much cheaper. If you have a business license you can register with helby.com (official beadsmith supplier). In the meantime, just type in Jewelry forums in google and check some out - you will find lots of friends online that will be happy to share their suppliers with you.

i use fire mountain gems --they have a web site, phone order, or send in check--will send you catalogs during the year with really lowered prices!
for most of the supplies i order--you don't have to have a wholesale license, and if you order say 15 of just about ANY thing, you get price breaks
AND they have a 'stuff the box for $5' and all kinds of ways to ship it
i've used them off and on every since i started making jewelry and have NEVER had any problems!
good luck!

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum but found this thread right away an must say your answers are very helpful :-) I'm mainly making leather bracelets and recently heard about genuine salmon leather. I liked the idea and wanted to try it. Does anyone know a supplier or has experience with this? I'm thinking about a stitched salmon leather cord but when I google I only find one supplier that I have no experience with. Any experiences or hints? Thanks a lot!

Hi Monica. Welcome to Bella. I haven't been very active in jewelry making lately. I have been so busy this year that I had little time to work on the craft. I am a newbie again. I did sign up for a beading class so that I could sort of start over again. I'm looking forward to more free time in the upcoming year.

Looks it is a post posted nearly a year ago ... Well I still wanna have some of my advice added here. How about Pandahall.com, Firemountain Gems or artbeads, those three online jewelry suppliers are my regular supplier... They provide high-quality beads as well great service, those who are searching jewelry making supplier can contact them. smile
