To all or none,

Of the 5 Buddhist precepts, the first is one should not kill.
By that is meant ,the killing of humans, animals, sentient beings. No One will come and punish you, you will ,by the karma created by your actions.

In the word killing ,is included, the one that kills ,helps,
participate in the preparation of the act.
So the gun salesman, the parent that sees his 20 year old son with 10 assault weapons, the gun manufaturor ,are all in the same bag.All liable for these mass killings, all have created themselves a karma that shall follow them ,until they extinguish it with sufficient good actions. .

For those who died today, anew life has already begun. For those remaining, suffering ,the reflexion of the human society.

For those who think that having 12 guns in a house to protect themselves may you carry ,part of this karma.Global karma exists.Think about it..
I do not have the smoothness of Lisa Erickson, because as I am writing this some words are held. By Compassion for those who are not informed.

Let us all have compassion and love ,for all those who have suffered today ,and will be traumatized for the rest of their lives. The 20 year old that committed this atrocity,is not the only liable person.
May others search their minds.

To all or none,
Below is the comment By Bhikkhu Samahita

Friends:Not Killing promotes Harmlessness and thus produces Peace!

Once in Savatthi the Blessed Buddha said this:
What, householder friends, is the Dhamma explanation befitting to oneself?
Here, householder friends, a Noble Disciple reflects thus: I am one who wishes
to live, who does not wish to die; I desire happiness & do not like any suffering.
If someone were to take my life, it would neither be pleasing nor agreeable to me.
If I kill whatever another being: One who also wishes to live, who also does not
wish to die, who also desires happiness & who also dislike suffering, that would
neither be pleasant nor acceptable to that other being either...
What is displeasing and disagreeable to me, is also displeasing and disagreeable
to any other being too. How can I inflict upon another being what is displeasing
and disagreeable to myself? Having reflected repeatedly thus, then gradually:
1: He/she will carefully avoid all destruction of any life-form whatsoever...
2: He/she will persuade others also to abstain from all destruction of any life...
3: He/she will speak praising harmlessness and avoidance of all & any killing...
In exactly this way is this good bodily behaviour purified in three respects!!! Source (edited extract):
The Grouped Sayings of the Buddha. Samyutta Nikāya. [V:353]
section 55: Sotāpattisamyutta. Thread 7: To the people at the Bamboo gate...
HARMLESSNESS AVOIDS THE ULTIMATE WRONG!
All sentient beings feel pain from violence.
All sentient beings fear death.
Seeing other beings are like oneself;
Treating other beings like oneself;
One should never ever harm nor kill ...
Dhammapada 129

Whoever harms the harmless & innocent beings,
upon such very fool, pain of evil promptly return
as dust thrown against the wind.
Dhammapada 125
Whoever injures, with weapon or stick, beings
searching for their happiness - when after death -
seeking same happiness, such fool never finds it!
Dhammapada 131
Whoever never injures, with weapon nor stick, beings
searching for their happiness - when after death -
seeking same happiness, such clever & kind one
always gain it!
Dhammapada 132
The Noble is not one who injures living beings.
The Noble is one who never injures living beings.
Dhammapada 270

Ever are the true disciples of the Buddha
well awake & quite aware. Constantly they
meditate both day & night on Harmlessness.
Dhammapada 300
The one who has left violence,
who never harm any being,
whether moving are stationary,
who never kill nor causes to kill,
such one, harmless, is a Holy One.
Dhammapada 405
The one who is friendly among the hostile,
who is harmless among the violent,
who is detached among the greedy,
such one is a Holy One.
Dhammapada 406

To all or none,

Text by B.S reworked by loong

Friends:

The Blessed Buddha once said:

Sabbe sattā, sabbe pānā,

sabbe bhūtā ca kevalā,

sabbe bhadrāni passantu.

Mā kaci pāpamāgamā.

May all creatures, all living things,

all beings without any exception,

experience good happiness only!

May they not fall into any harm.

Aṅguttara Nikāya 4.67
Solitude is happiness for one, who is content,

who has heard the Dhamma and clearly sees.

Non-violence is happiness in this world:

Harmlessness towards all living beings.

Udana 10
HARMLESS
The one, who has left violence,
who never harm any being,
whether they are trembling or still,
who never kill, nor causes to kill,
such one, harmless, is a Holy One.
Dhammapada 405

To all or none.
Thinking out of the box.

Like most people ,I asked myself how the school massacre had come.?
A lot of shrinks will come out with their great theories.
Come out of the box,and stay with me.
A youngchild/man suffering from a rare mental disease,I have a friend that her son has the same desease, is shown twice a week
to shoot at targets .First the head, than the body.In his world
with maybe a mental age of a 13 year old, this boy is shown the worst thing on earth ,Kill.
Surely neglected not receiving the love he requires,The attention of the mother going to her class. He waits ,for his turn.Does not happen.
Something clicks in his mind.Thakes an assault rifle, munitions
goes to his mothers class, shoots her first ,4 to 5 rounds in the head, that is what he was shown. Then in his little mind ,the source of his lack of loving, the kids.He does the unthinkable.

You might wonder ,why I am writing this?I was a neglected, kid myself, not getting the love ,I expected.I at the time often
thought of self mutilation. When my mother died at the age of 44,
I was happy.I was 17 years old.I was not better than the 20year
old man/boy.

Love or lack of for someone that is not brain steady can do heavy dammage,I made peace with my mother, and yet sometimes it comes back.

In buddhism it is shown to break fetters, detach from the past ,being gone. Some wounds are very, very deep.

My post is not to find a guilty party,it is to show that parenting is of the outmost importance, for a human to develop well.

For those, who suffered, are suffering, and will suffer,my heart goes to all filled with compassion.

As for those who were killed ,they are already in another realm,
If you pray ,pray for the survivors.

Parents, please take care, giving love to your children.

With Compassion and Loving Kindness

Hi Loong, actually his mother did not teach at the school, that was misinformation that was given out in early reports. As it turns out, she had not worked in a long time, and devoted most of her time caring for him. She homeschooled him for part of his education when school started being too difficult for him.

I do understand your point, but I think this is an example of how it is so difficult to really know someone else's life, or their mind, from afar. It's also an example of how the media works! In the rush to get the 'scoop' there was actually a lot of misinformation initially printed that has since been corrected. And there are many other facts that we simply don't know yet.

Of course, parenting does play a huge part in any of our lives. But there are also very real neuro-biological and psychological conditions that impact some individuals. The exact diagnosis for the the shooter in this case hasn't come forth yet - just a lot of hearsay at this point - so we don't really know yet. So I'm not sure it's fair yet to say we know what led to this. I think sometimes we just have to accept we can't see the whole picture. Maybe it will come out in time, or maybe not.

Certainly, exposure to violence, and perhaps guns, couldn't have helped. That is one major concern I do have about our culture - what is our awareness touching? The Buddha said 'With our thoughts we make the world' - well, what kind of thoughts do violent games, movies, etc. fill our minds with? I fear too many individuals are caught in mind states created by this kind of media, and aren't taught how to detach from it and find stillness, and that is a big problem.
