Our thoughts and tears are with families and all those affected by the terrible events at Sandy Hook Elementary and Newtown Connecticut.

It is disturbing that the grief and pain of the families who lost their beautiful children is being broadcast, with interviews of children as well as parents who are still so obviously in shock. I hope that families of the adults who lost their lives also know we mourn with them, although we can't imagine the pain they are dealing with in these early and terrible days.

I want to go back and re-hug every kindergartener I have ever known.

I am feeling grateful for helpful and insightful articles written in the wake of the terrible tragedy and events at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown Connecticut.

Dealing With Grief: Five Things NOT To Say And Five Things To Say In A Trauma Involving Children

Especially at the worst of times, we should be respectful of privacy issues for families of children with disabilities, and aware that what parents write may be neither appropriate or true.

No, You are Not Adam Lanza's Mother, and Yes, Your Child has a Right to Privacy

If you were disturbed by headlines in some newspapers - for instance, The New York Times - you are not alone. It is pathetic that they chose to sensationalize vicious and heartbreaking details on front page headlines to sell a few more papers.

My thoughts and prayers remain with families and individuals affected by the tragic events in Newtown Connecticut.

Many mothers have not spoken about what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary with their children. These two moms who wrote about their reasons comforted me:

Why I Didn't Tell My Daughter About Newtown

Why I am Not Talking To My Kids About Sandy Hook
