I hadn't heard of Tripoly before, I should check it out!
Kids definitely learn from the modeled habits of their parents. After the recession, many parents may not be a in a good place to model the best habits for their children. At least, not right now. Knowing our children are watching us is one more reason to develop good habits, and to talk about them with our own children.

Triopoly combines the basics of Monopoly's real estate investing with stock market investing. I know I enjoyed playing Monopoly as a child but haven't played for a long while.

I think that the recession can be a very good learning experience for children in handling adversity. It's true that the best money habits may not be modeled right now. However, children are learning that financial lives are not always perfect and that hard choices and struggles sometimes must be endured. Watching parents endure may be a more powerful financial lesson than which investments to pick or how to invest.
