A coworker mentioned this show to me in passing the other day so I decided to jump on my on demand and check it out. I've caught up on the entire 1st season and all I can say is that the show is awesome. Kelsey does a great job as Mayor of Chicago. The show exposes numerous corruptions. I would highly recommend it.

LOL Lisa I JUST replied to your post about the show Elementary with the same exact questions!!

Boss is a Starz original series. I hadn't heard about it until a Starz represetative came to my job with some promo DVDs of the show. I found it on Starz on Demand and watched the entire 1st season in 2 days. I was instantly hooked.

Hmmm OK I found the Wikipedia page on it.

I realize I'm odd in my selections. I work pretty much all day every day so I am particular about what shows I add into my week, since any show I add takes away from my backlog of work I can catch up on.

So the shows I tend to watch are, intriguingly, police dramas with strong female characters. I adored In Plain Sight and The Closer. Both are now gone. So I watch:

* Major Case Squad (the follow-up to The Closer)
* Elementary (I adore Sherlock Holmes)
* Bones (female scientist detective, a win-win for me)
* Castle (female detective plus Nathan Fillion)
* Blue Bloods (female detective plus Tom Selleck who, amongst other things, is amazing in his Jesse Stone movies - I adore Robert B Parker)

I think that's it for my week and even that seems like a lot to me. It's a lot of hours spent on non-work, but it's some of my only time with Bob and to decompress my brain. So it's a trade-off.

So I think I'm just not into political dramas. I like cop shows where there's a puzzle, they solve the puzzle, and they put an end to the bad guy. I like solving the puzzles along with them (or trying to out-guess them). I'm very much a stickler for "reality" and get quite annoyed when there are huge plot holes in writing. I want things to make sense in a real-life way. I've had to drop several shows because their writing left too many holes.

I haven't heard of Major Case Squad, I will check it out. I wanted to catch Blue Bloods but I think I was already watching Rookie Blue so I was on police overload.

I don't think that I have a particular "type". I just watch what is interesting to me. Often for me I try to watch things that don't require too much thinking because since I work full time and go to school, tv time is my only real time to "veg out".

My DVR stays active because somehow I still manage to watch (during different seasons of course):

*Boss
*Nurse Jackie
*House of Lies
*Shameless
*MasterChef
*Top Chef
*Private Practice
*Grey's Anatomy
*Scandal (which you may like because it has a strong female lead character, Kerry Washington, and she solves puzzles)
*Rookie Blue

I have been watching all of the shows above for at least 3 seasons with the exception of Boss and Scandal because they are on their second season.

Other than my "chef" shows, I'm not a big reality tv fan. I did watch Hotel Hell last season but it was only like 6 shows.

I have not seen this show, but my iphone news update just told me that it was cancelled. Too bad, I like Kelsey Grammar - guess I should have watched it so the ratings were better!

Awwww Carolyn! This is the worst news I've seen all week! It's a shame too because it's a really good show. Kelsey Grammer won a Golden Globe for his role.
