Hostess is going out of business! No more Twinkies! Is this a good thing for low carbers, or the loss of a special treat? Will you miss any Hostess products? I loved the cupcakes.

I never liked the Twinkies, even as a child, but I loved the chocolate cupcakes and really went for the strawberry ones too. (I'm sure I'd think they were revolting now.)

Twinkies and other of Hostess' most popular items may not be gone forever. After the company goes out of business, it is anticipated that Hostess will attempt to sell its assets to the highest bidder(s). That could mean new life (if not sustenance) for some of its most popular products, which could be purchased at auction and added to the product lines of other companies.

I'd already noticed the flavors changing over the years, as Hostess altered their recipe. So my worry would be if someone else took them over that they'd tweak them even more, to work with their existing equipment or supplies or such. I have a sense it'll just never be the same as when I was young.

Burt -

I don't think I ever tried a snowball, or if I did, I don't remember about it. I did love the yodels, and Drakes is going away too.

In a way I think it's good if we automate mindless processes and train people to be in jobs that they can use their minds in. The challenge is in that transition period. But for example I'm thrilled humans don't have to sit in tiny toll booths for long hours on end, simply handing out tickets any more.

Hi Lisa -

I Thank You for your positive outlook.

I could use more - diagnosed with bi-polar @ 16yrs. under control with meds @ 51.

The agrarian revolution is long past as is the industrial and technological -- what do we have to look forward to ?

Yes, repetitive tasks are best automated -- I try to reach out in thought and spiritually evolve yet I have a lot of sorrow.

Hmmm... how do I migrate this to philosophy and / or... don't know < blush >

Hey Lisa-

Last summer I tasted fried Twinkies for the first time. Mega-yum! So, I might be thrilled that they are out of business. Who needs those extra hips anyway? LOL!
