I'm a ways away from my own daughter's (I hope), and I remember that my mom was out of town and my best friend's mom was the one "taking care of me" so, there wasn't much of a celebration or rite of passage.
However, years later - I was really drawn to Native American spirituality and inspired to do a ritual in nature.
It might be interesting to examine different cultures and come up with something that will be meaningful to your daughter.
