The main link is here. People may ask "What's the point of this"? I've been told it helps generate extra options for evacuation of future high-flying planes and low-flying spacecraft. Thoughts?

I tend to think of space exploration in terms of going up, rather than falling down, so I've not been paying lots of attention to this. The website proclaims: "Red Bull Stratos seeks to advance scientific discoveries in aerospace for the benefit of mankind." I'd add "and for the benefit of Red Bull by generating lots of publicity."

It looks to me like something they latched onto and then started to think about possible applications, rather than a solution to an existing problem. It will be interesting to see what happens and what they learn from it, but I won't be watching it live.

Glad to see that he landed safely after breaking the sound barrier, but not breaking anything else!

I didn't see it live either but I did read the article leading up to the actual jump. I don't know what to make of it. People do what they want to do for their own reasons.

But it would be nice if some helpful scientific info could be gained from this stunt. Besides publicity for Red Bull!
