I have seen Mount Shasta from 100 miles away and it is an impressive sight like no other from that distance. Its highest peak is 14,129 feet tall.

The good part is you can drive up to 12,000 and then set out on a hike - the view opposite the one in the article is breathtaking. It is looking over the mountain ranges surrounding.
