Hello one and all,

Savvy Gardening - Save your Seeds is the subject of the latest article on the CG site ... scroll down here, go reeeeaaad it as you will then come back and say your say!

Seeds of success in our lives depends on savvy habits and so too with gardening so do you save seeds from season to season or do you go for seedlings? Saving seeds makes sense; it saves your favourites and could be the start of a heritage collection; it's thrifty gardening too so start seeding.

Now even though our Container Gardening adventures are contained to smaller spaces and limited gardening in some ways, there is no reason not to save seed - or is there?

What do you think? What do you do? What do you know?

I look forward to learning what you do and what tricks you have up your collective sleeves. Come share with us, you're welcome to be sure.

Cheers

Great article Lestie, chock bang full with useful information as always.

Have saved seeds for years, last year's success was a whole area of lavender seeded during the summer that this year filled the air with its fragrance for months. Just lovely and from saved seeds.

However it is amazing anything grew really, have learned a lot from your article which I have been doing incorrectly all this time.........small wonder there have been some spectacular failures along the way.

Hi Francine,

Am so pleased that the article on Saving Seeds helped and will help in future as well, good news that.

I have to admit I have never really been a Seeder (as our Garden Club calls those who gather) and as such when I admit it, I get funny looks like 'are you crazy etc.' I am too impatient and if truth be told not as successful growing things from seed than I want to be so I generally go the seedlings route.

Still, I have always collected and dried tomato seeds, of course tried to grow an avocado from the pip (you know, propped up in a glass bottle with matchsticks) and even grew an orange tree once ... and all in containers.

Now that I think of it, that avo tree in my pot is worth more investigation - so there is a double thanks to you for an new article idea, I have more to say on that subject that I want to say right here and right now.

How is your Moon Gardening going? I have not posted Moon info recently but am getting a couple of enquiries again - would you be another who might want them back?

Cheers and happy conntainer gardening to you all,
