How do you know about Heritage day? Do you live in S A? Have other friends? Did you emigrate to the US?

FYI all and all ... we have a Public Holiday coming up on 24th September (and have it every year on this date) to celebrate all the heritages and cultures and peoples and languages and practices and nationalities who have found a home in this unique country I am lucky to live in. Of course this includes all the 'European' cultures as well as the ethnic ones, covering our full history etc etc and so on.

Mind you every place 'we' live in is U N I Q U E so that's a good thought too.

Yep - Heritage Day in SA is aka National Braai (Barbecue) Day where we get around that coal 'barbie' and celebrate all that is human. I think it is one of the most enjoyed public holidays, but have nothing official to base that opinion on, just do.

And we are growing up as a 'rainbow nation' ... we are beginning to laugh at ourselves which is good news indeed.

No, it was a comedy snippet about airport announcements. He gives examples of what you hear in the UK and then China and then Johannesburg. I really chuckled as it was so typical and such home brew ... I remember returning from the UK once with just that happening and what a joy it was to be 'home'.

Also, I really need some tips on growing English Lavender in containers. I buy a plant almost every spring but they just do not winter-over very well and often die the following spring.

Granpappy done lost a jug out in the punkin patch. He has been out there all day lookin'. Good way to keep him busy and out of trouble, eh?

If there is any chance Granpappy can get his hands on a jug, then for sure he is going to expend all his energy a lookin'..............

Great way to harvest the patch... Tell Granpappy that this jug was recently painted to look like a pumpkin. He'll go through the patch in record time.
