Peter Tchaikovsky is perhaps one of the best known Russian composers. His works include hundreds of musical compositions such as concertos for both the violin and piano, operas, symphonies and ballets such as the Nutcracker Suite and Swan Lake.

My Tchaikovsky favorite happens to be the 1812 Overture that celebrates the victory over Napoleon's army in the Battle of Borodino. The cannon shots, clashing symbols, and chimes are original.

In fact, this masterpiece can be heard at the end of the movie V for Vendetta as the train crashes and Big Ben and Parliament explode.

The music lives on!
