The more time you spend with an animal the deeper the connection. It is fascinating really, and an affirmation that we can live in harmony among all life forms.

Ahhhh! Debbie, you take me back years ago when my brother and I rode horses in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. There is nothing quite like the spiritual connection, and you describe it so well.

I think about the spirituality of being with such a magnificent animal and my thoughts wander back in time to early Native American history when the horse was so much a part of their lives. And the wars throughout history. These beautiful horses carried their masters through battles, and carried them home again, often to their final resting place.

The history of horses is a fantastic thing to read about. I remember reading about Black Jack and the spiritual bond he made with so many people, even people who did not know him personally. Black Jack pulled caissons with beloved heroes within, to their final resting place, John F. Kennedy was one of those whom Black Jack gently lead the way to the cemetery. When Black Jack died, there was mourning for him across the nation. He had created such a powerful spiritual bond with many.

I know of Black Jack and many other historical horses. They certainly are majestic animals and have been so important to mankind through the years. The Native Americans greatly respected and loved their horses. Many cultures have had horses at the center of their history.

There is something very mystical and spiritual about horses. Even the smell of them is pleasant to most people. They are such beautiful creatures, but surprisingly fragile for their size. Wreck their feet or stomach and they are as good as gone.

Every animal is a part of nature and the world around us. We all have a relationship in some way with every living thing. There is great beauty in it and often spiritual connections are possible.

As always Debbie, great article. That brought me back to a time when I spent a summer with my aunt and uncle on their farm. I connect with their Arabian horse and the fondest memories I have were spent riding for hours with him.
